LOUISIANA: Nice Fat Dularge Specks

Friday, February 17th, 2012

I jumped onboard the Catchdat one today with Terry and Robin around 11:00.

All it took was one stop for us to load the box with some nice fat Dularge specks up to 20 inch’s long. No limits but 40 nice specks, 3 reds, and 1 flounder in just a few hours of fishing. Fun times with lots of laughs and some trash talking. Swimbaits is what the fish wanted. Blue and Chartruese colors were the ticket with a slow steady retrieve. Thanks guys.

Looking forward to busting them again tomorrow.

MISSISSIPPI: Cold Snap Drives In Big Sheepshead, Black Drum, Specks Into Bays

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Last couple of trips were half-a-day outings, and the bite was very good considering we had to fish in poor weather conditions…rain and wind.

On one trip anglers caught plenty of white trout and black drum, a father and daughter duo. They fished well and you can see from the pics they went home with a fine mess of fish on an afternoon trip.

Today had another fun group from Georgia, and they boxed approxsimately 30 black drum and big sheepshead. It was blowing a gale, and it took a while to find the fish in deep water. Bottom line…we found them!

Few days ago took friends to Cumbest Bayou in Moss Point, MS and we caught some really fine white trout and speckled trout. That’s the area I duck hunt.

On that trip I took my 19-foot G3, and we scouted plenty of redheads already down. Don’t forget that TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS conducts diving duck hunts too, and the season begins the day after Thanksgiving.

And yes, the speckled trout have moved into our coastal rivers and bayous. Casting and slow trolling soft-plastics is a fun way to fish for the specks, and the river settings are simply gorgeous.

It’s still on…come on down…let’s fish!

Regards and many thanks to all.

MISSISSIPPI: Redfish, Flounder, Drum, White Trout, & Specks On The Menu

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Despite all of this oil scare in the Gulf of Mexico inshore and island fishing has been great, and so far the barrier islands has dodged the bullet. To date, well, we’ve been lucky with winds, currents, and heavy seas to break it up, but we aren’t out of the woods yet.

But until then it’s fishing as usual, and TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS hasn’t missed a beat through all of this oil floating offshore.

Matter a fact, some really nice bull reds have been boated on TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS at the islands, and some nice white trout were added to the mix too.

Just a day ago on a recon trip we spotted good numbers of FLORIDA POMPANO in the isle’s shallows, a mixture of big and small fish, but it was a good sign never the less. Oh yeah, Spanish mackerel and bluefish are in the surf and on outer bars too.

I’ve been waiting to see those pompano in numbers for some time now, and all we need are some anglers to get after the speedy and tasty shallow dwellers. Bottom line…they’re here!

The bay fishing has been good too with a few specks and redfish, plenty of big white trout, flounders, and black drum. Just great light tackle bottom fishing fun.

Menhaden are big enough for bait now, and the white trout have been hammering the lively and shiny baits.

What can I say, no oil to date, and the bite has been good. So come on down and hop aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and let’s catch a mess of fish.
