TEXAS: Southeast Fishing – Gibbons Creek, Livingston & Others

CONROE:
Water fairly clear; 63 – 65 degrees; 1.58’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on minnows and chartreuse striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait, cut bait, and frozen shrimp.

GIBBONS CREEK:
Water clear. Black bass are good on chartreuse/orange and chartreuse/red soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and white tube jigs. Catfish are good on frozen shrimp, cut bait, and stinkbait.

HOUSTON COUNTY:
Water clear; 68 – 72 degrees; 0.08’ high. Black bass to 6 pounds are good on watermelon red soft plastic worms in 4 feet. Crappie are good on live minnows near the dam around piers. Channel and blue catfish to 6 pounds are good on trotlines baited with perch and cut shad.

LIVINGSTON:
Water fairly clear; 64 – 67 degrees; 0.04’ high. Black bass are good on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN:
Water lightly stained; 63 – 66 degrees; 7.65’ low. Black bass are good on Carolina rigged pumpkinseed soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. White bass are good on live minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are good on frozen shrimp, liver, and cut bait.

TOLEDO BEND:
Water stained; 65 – 73 degrees; 7.32’ low. Black bass are excellent on watermelon Ribbit frogs with red pearl bellies around shoreline vegetation early, and later on watermelon/gold and watermelon/purple Texas rigged Yamamoto weightless worms. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on Rinky Dinks and ¼oz. Rat-L-Traps on points in the north end of the lake. Crappie are good on shiners and 1/16oz. pink/white and black/chartreuse Roadrunners in 4 – 10 feet. Bream are good on worms and Berkley Power Maggots. Channel and blue catfish are good on prepared bait and liver in shallow flats and the mouths of creeks in 6 – 12 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

CONROE:
Water fairly clear; 1.77’ low. Black bass are good on pumpkinseed spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are good on minnows and chartreuse striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live bait.

GIBBONS CREEK:
Water clear. Black bass are fair on chartreuse spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on shrimp and live bait.

HOUSTON COUNTY:
Water clear; 52 degrees; 0.95’ low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on watermelon soft plastic worms and chrome and chartreuse Rat-L-Traps behind the islands. Crappie are fair on live minnows near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are good on juglines baited with live bait.

LIVINGSTON:
Water fairly clear; 61 degrees; 0.16’ high. Black bass to 3 pounds are fair on soft plastics. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows in creeks. Blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN:
Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 8.64’ low. Black bass are good on tequila sunrise shallow running crankbaits and topwaters. White bass are fair on minnows and Li’l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are good on shrimp and hot dogs.

TOLEDO BEND:
Water fairly clear; 61 degrees; 8.38’ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon shallow running crankbaits, topwaters, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and silver jigging spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Bream are fair on worms. Channel and blue catfish are good on live bait. Yellow catfish are slow.

CONROE:
Water fairly clear; 1.65’ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse/red flake soft plastics in 12 – 25 feet. Striped bass are fair on silver spoons and white striper jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Catfish are fair on liver, cut bait, and shrimp.

GIBBONS CREEK:
Water clear. Black bass are fair on watermelon red soft plastics and crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are good on stinkbait, perch, liver, and shrimp.

HOUSTON COUNTY:
Water clear; 74 degrees; 1.23’ low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on topwaters, blue soft plastic worms, and shad colored deep running crankbaits near the islands in 20 feet. Crappie are good on live minnows in 20 feet. Bream are good on live worms off points in 20 feet. Channel and blue catfish to 4 pounds are good on trotlines baited with perch and shad in 20 feet.

LIVINGSTON:
Water fairly clear; 80 degrees; 0.04’ high. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Striped bass are sporadic on bone colored Zara spooks and Rat-L-Traps. White bass are fair on troll tubes, pet spoons, and small slabs. Crappie are good on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN:
Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 8.55’ low. Black bass are good on minnows, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and some topwaters. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are good on shrimp and liver.

TOLEDO BEND:
Water stained; 80 degrees; 7.92’ low. Black bass are good on shad colored soft plastic worms and chartreuse topwaters early and late. Striped bass are fair on minnows. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Bream are good on nightcrawlers. Channel and blue catfish are good on liver, shrimp, and bloodbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

CONROE:
Water fairly clear; 0.96’ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse and watermelon red Carolina rigged soft plastics, Senkos, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on live minnows and green striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp.

GIBBONS CREEK:
Water clear. Black bass are good on chartreuse/blue and chartreuse/white Carolina rigged soft plastics, and on green/white spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait and live perch.

HOUSTON COUNTY:
Water clear; 85 degrees; 0.42’ low. Black bass to 9 pounds are very good on blue/blue flake, black/red flake, and chartreuse soft plastic worms and Rat-L-Traps near the marina. Crappie are good on live minnows around brush piles in 10 – 12 feet. Bream are good on live worms off piers and over grass beds. Channel and blue catfish to 50 pounds are good on trotlines baited with perch.

LIVINGSTON:
Water fairly clear; 88 degrees; 0.44’ low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on bone colored and Zara spooks. White bass are good on troll tubes and pet spoons. Crappie are good on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN:
Water lightly stained; 89 degrees; 6.14’ low. Black bass are good on topwaters and watermelon soft plastic worms. White bass are fair on spoons over humps. Crappie are fair on minnows over baited holes. Bream are fair on nightcrawlers. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait and nightcrawlers.

Water stained; 88 degrees; 4.60’ low. Black bass are good on topwaters and redbug soft plastic worms early and late. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on spoons on ridges. Crappie are slow. Bream are good on crickets and nightcrawlers in 5 – 10 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with shrimp and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.
