LOUISIANA: Bronze Beauties On Soft Plastics and Spoons

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Day 2 fishing the Cowboys and Cajun Redfish Rodeo had us leaving out of the Reel In Lodge bright and early!!

Our first stop was slow so we made a move and found 8 golden bronze beauties in a 100 yard stretch all on soft plastics and spoons. Made a third move and found the mother load of reds on cracked crab. We filled the box to where it would not close.

Everyone had a blast reeling in the big bronze backs.

Thanks guys for another exceptional trip.

LOUISIANA: Reds Were Hungry Today and it was Easy As it Gets

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Dig-In-Anchors.comKurtis Loupe, Brian Loupe, Shannon Loupe, and Cody Lirette jumped on board the big Bluewave this morning with me. They had no idea what they were in store for!!

We made one stop and had everyone in the boat with bent rods.

The reds were hungry today as it was easy as it gets. We loaded the Yeti with our 25 reds and 2 puppy drum and were headed to the dock for 8am. We ended up with 150 pounds of fish today.

My crew experienced the best trip of their lives, and were amazed how incredible the bite was. They will be talking about the trip for a long time, plenty memories made today!! Thanks guys, as it was great watching the excitement going on and listening to all the trash talk!!!

LOUISIANA: Trout Eating Up Our Double Rigged Avocado Matrix Shad

Tuesday, August 14th, 2012

Good as it gets today, Seth Elbualy joined me today aboard the Big blue Wave to crush the trout and reds.

Dead calm seas had the water clean again and the trout in a feeding frenzy. Three stops to put our limits of trout and reds in the boat.

Our second stop found the trout eating up our double rigged Avocado Matrix Shad, Sparkle Beetles, TTF KFMS, and Cocodrie Cocahoes. The fish were not picky about color as they were eating up everything in sight. We left the trout biting and made one more stop. The reds were piled up like sardines and we had them coming in the boat every-cast also. After catching and releasing a minimum of 20 fish, I convinced Seth to keep a few. We loaded six of them in the Yeti and called it a day.

What a incredible day it was, thanks Seth for a incredible trip. Big thanks to Capt Anthony Kyzar for setting up this trip.

LOUISIANA: Targeting Speckled Trout on Artificial Lures

Monday, August 6th, 2012

It seems like for the last few weeks I have been fishing with a lot of kids fishing with their fathers and grandfathers. Just family type fishing. I really enjoy watching kids and young teenagers having a good time doing something outdoors like fishing. I think they really need to be at least 10 years old before they are out on fishing charters, because they usually cannot go for long until they burn out and lose interest in the trip.

We have caught some nice fish here lately too. Usually these young anglers need a lot of coaching at first, but I am impressed with how some of them catch on quickly to casting and fighting fish. It is always more difficult with kids when the fish are not biting, and we have to move around to find them. I don’t want them to get discouraged early, but fortunately we have been on the fish pretty good. I keep telling folks that the number of fish we catch in a day has a lot to do with where I decide to fish, but it has a lot to do also with the crew I take with me…

Anyway, everyone has said they have had a good time. The Summertime Redfishing has been on, and the cooler fall months are right around the corner. I like targeting the Speckled Trout in the fall on artificial lures. The Redfish bite is as good in the fall as any other time as well. If you want to take fish home with you to eat, then fall is the best time because the trout are easy to catch. Please, give me a call or email me if you have any questions about availability or whatever.

LOUISIANA: Bad Weather – Good Trip

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Windy Rainey Day Yesterday.

Larry, Robbie,Josh, and Blaine and I left the dock at first light and was met with a huge storm . It blew 20to30 for awhile no getting outside after the trout.

Plan B, so we worked around some ponds in the rain close to Black bay for redfish hoping the weather would break and we could get out. We put a few reds in the boat broke off a few and landed and released a huge bull drum. Then it happened the rain stopped wind calmed so we took our shot and ran out.

First stop a couple dirty water second and third catfish number four it happened picked few trout so we anchored down and they slowly started coming in the boat then they turned on trout coming in steady. The weather was making another run on us so we headed in and just made it in time. Cold and wet but smiling with box full of trout on bad weather day.

We fished hard no matter the weather and made the best of it and got lucky.

LOUISIANA: Bait change ends with Toledo Bend lunker bass

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

When New Iberia resident Blake Trahan began the second day of the annual Louisiana Bass Cats Tournament on March 10, he had no idea what lay in store for him.

He’d fished the tournament since 2004 and that morning, like the morning before, was windy. Trahan and his fishing partner Peter Romero went back to their “secluded cove” to get out of the wind.

And the payoff was a double-digit trophy bass.

They’d had some luck with this cover the day before and, after catching a few decent keepers on spinners and crankbaits, the pair figured they would see what else would turn up in the grass.

Trahan (who goes by his real name on the LouisianaSportsman.com forum) decided to start the day with a new bait, so he tied on a swimming silver-and-black Money Minnow and cast out a few feet from the boat. The second cast was as uneventful as the first, but the third was a charm.

As Trahan reeled back, barely 10 minutes after dawn broke, he felt a fish bite down.

“It felt no bigger than a 2- or 3-pound fish,” he said.

As he reeled in and the fish neared the boat, Trahan’s heart began to race.

“When it got within 4 or 5 feet of the boat, I realized it was a big fish,” he said.

The entire fight lasted 30 seconds. The fish tried to swim under the boat so Trahan, a Toledo Bay regular, let out some drag and let the fish fight the reel.

When the bass came back from the short trip, it was all over. Trahan pulled up the largest bass he has ever caught.

“My first thought was to run over to Toledo Tackle and have it weighed and certified,” he said. “I had a feeling it was going to be the biggest fish in the tournament.”

He was right. It was a 10.1-pound lunker.

“If I never catch another fish like that again, I’ll know I caught that one,” Trahan said. “There is nothing like it.”

LOUISIANA: Using a Green Bass looking Chug Bug

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Today the Bass were doing the Chug Bug thing. The chug bug was on the menu today for the Bass here on lake Bistineau in Bossier, City. They absolutly were tearing this bait up.

I was useing a green bass looking chug bug and I said yesterday there gonna blow-up here anyday. Well today was far the best day I have had since pre-spawn. Some people know this lure as a popper or plug but call it what you want I will be useing this baby again in the morning. The different lake was a change that can prove to be a good choice. I noticed the water was clearer and Bass were hyped up. So if your not catching anything at your favorite lake dont be afraid to hit a different lake and stick with it til you find what they want.

Shreveport Fishing Forecast

I am so exited with what is going on right now. The water temp is just right and the female Bass are moveing around again and there starving they’ve had a rough time as of lately but thats all changeing for us anglers. This week may start off slow but towards weeks end look-out I expect it be great and the weather should be fine. So go enjoy I know I will.

LOUISIANA: Avocado Matrix Shad was the Hottest Bait

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

Another good day on the water chasing the yellow mouths.

On board today I had Sandy Derise with Superior Energy Services, Jerry victoriano, Jerard Victoriano, and Bob Cotten.

We had a little late start but found the trout hungry at our first stop. It didn’t take long for everyone to start slinging fish over the gunnels. We were quickly on the move when the bite slowed down. It was run and gun today as the bite didn’t play out like yesterday.

2-10 fish was common today at each stop, Not like yesterday’s two stops.

Our last stop found some 16-19 inch trout which was nice to finish it off. Great group of guys to fish with as everyone had a good time, with lots of laughs and jokes being told. Avocado Matrix Shad was the hottest bait once again today with the shrimp creole Matrix and Coco Pepper Cocodrie Cocahoes following. No other baits needed right now. We had the baits double rigged and under a cork today. Thanks guys and Im Iooking forward to our next trip.

LOUISIANA: Nice Fat Dularge Specks

Friday, February 17th, 2012

I jumped onboard the Catchdat one today with Terry and Robin around 11:00.

All it took was one stop for us to load the box with some nice fat Dularge specks up to 20 inch’s long. No limits but 40 nice specks, 3 reds, and 1 flounder in just a few hours of fishing. Fun times with lots of laughs and some trash talking. Swimbaits is what the fish wanted. Blue and Chartruese colors were the ticket with a slow steady retrieve. Thanks guys.

Looking forward to busting them again tomorrow.

LOUISIANA: Reds were Tailing in One Foot of Water

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Darrell Dore, Andrew Barron, Daniel Barron, and Chad Lamperez joined me today for some trout and reds.

We started the morning off strong slinging in trout and reds, looked as though we had hit the jackpot. The reds were tailing in one foot of water and we were knocking them in their heads!!! Before we knew it someone flicked that switch off again. We went on a mission looking for trout, reds, and bass with no luck.

We ended back at our first stop to find a few more trout and a couple reds. Blue Tiger Highlife Swimmer, LSU swimbait were the two top producers today.

Great company and good times fishing with you guys, thank you again.
