MISSISSIPPI: Lake Mary Crawford – Bass are Being Caught on Spinner baits and Plastic Worms

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Bream fishing has been fair this week with most fish being caught withn crickets in 4-6 ft of water.  Fishing near brush or other structure is recommended.

Bass are being caught on spinner baits and plastic worms.  The best fishing has been in 4-6 ft depths and using spinnerbaits, crank baits, and soft plastics.  Feel free to take a mess of small bass home with you.

Crappie are being caught in 3-7 ft depths with minnows.  Target some of the brush tops listed below or around the fishing piers.

Over 10 new fish attractor sites were created during January 2011. Several of these sites were marked with GPS and the coordinates are listed below. The lake depth map has been updated showing many of these locations. The additional habitat should provide structure for various fish species and offer hot spots for anglers to try. Good luck!

MISSISSIPPI: Lake Mary Crawford – Bass Can Be Found Around Brush

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Bass can be found around brush in 3-6 ft depths.  Soft plastics in junebug, chartruese, and pumkinseed colors have been best.  Feel free to take a mess of small bass home with you!

Bream fishing is picking up.  Try worms or crickets in 3-5 ft depths along the bank and around brush.

Crappie fishing has been slow.  Try fishing around brush in 4-8 ft water and along the creek channel.

Catfish are being caught, but sizes have been small.  Tight-lining with worms, liver, or shrimp should do well for catfish.  Late afternoon has been the best time for catching them.

MISSISSIPPI: Lake Mary Crawford – 10 new fish attractor sites

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Bass are expected to be moving out of the deep water soon with the warm weather we’re experiencing.  Try fishing along the levee with jigs, carolina rigged worms, or crank baits.  Target some of the fish attractors that are located in 7-10 ft of water.  If you catch a limit of small bass, please take them home with you.

We haven’t received any reports from crappie anglers this week.  Try fishing near structure in 6-8 ft depths with jigs and minnows.  Several tops were added in deep areas and will likely be holding crappie.

Bream fishing is very popular at this lake.  Try tight-lining with redworms or crickets from the bank and around structure.
