ARKANSAS: Bass are Eating Out on Deep, Long Points

Friday, August 10th, 2012

The surface temperature is 87-91 degrees.

Hybrid and white bass will bite pretty well if the wind is blowing strongly or generation is going on. Try top-water baits, in-line spinners, spoons and swim baits (in-line spinners seem to be working best). Look for the bait and the fish will be close.

Bass are eating out on deep, long points on the Arkansas Claw and Texas-rigged worms, Flukes and top-water baits working shallow, and a jighead worm working in the mid-depths.

Walleye are suspended in 30-35 feet of water, eating crankbaits and night crawlers.

Bream are shallow on beds and eating crickets, night crawlers and small crankbaits.

The crappie action has slowed somewhat; try minnows on jigheads around brush in 15-35 feet of water.

Catfishing is still going well all over the lake.

ALABAMA: Lake Eufaula – Bass are still Working Shallow Cover

Friday, August 10th, 2012

The river remains low, please use the cans and creek markers. The stumps are just under the surface. The marked river and creeks are safe to run, avoiding them could result in injury or a damaged boat.It is not worth the chance. Idle to the spots off the safe areas to fish.

Bass are still working the shallow cover areas well up into the day as long as the clouds stay up. As soon as the sun breaks through, look for the shad action right behind you. Big fish are feeding around the pads. A swimming worm has better hook up percentage. They are striking but not eating the bait, so the frogs are getting more missed hits.

Pan Fish are slow but where you can find any brush hanging in the water, they are working the area. With the water down, it is hard to find bank cover right now.

Cats are doing good. Still, setting up on the top of a drop and fishing the deeper water is producing table fare. You can also fish big pinks around the outer edges of the pads early and you will catch some while they are roaming around feeding on the bait. If you have found a site to set up where the pads are near a drop, you have the best of both worlds, fish from both sides of the boat and you will be busy for sure.

Be sure and keep plenty of sunscreen and water with you. It is fun on the water this time of year, if you stay hydrated and do not get burned up when the sun does come out. Keep a close eye on the clouds, the afternoon storms can come on you fast. Pay attention to the winds, they will alert you of changing conditions you may not be able to see with the high banks up river.

TENNESSEE: Bass can be Found Along the Ledges

Friday, July 27th, 2012

Bass fishing on Old Hickory is starting to come alive.

The recent rains have cooled the water off some.  Schools of bass can be found along the ledges as well as along the creek channels.

Some big bass have been caught up shallow with the fresh and higher water levels around vegetation.  Fish have been caught using soft plastics and jigs, along with shallow to deep crankbaits.

The shallow bite is fair to good early and late with the deeper bite picking up as the day progresses. There have been alot of bass caught on soft plastics and jigs as well either texas rigged or on a carolina rig.  Been catching bluegill and catfish with customers lately.

Catfish are up spawning at this time so there have been quite a few caught shallow.

ALABAMA: Bass – Doing Well Jigs and Bottom Rigs

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Bass – Doing well Jigs and bottom rigs are catching good fish around the shore lines. Top water early and late will produce some bites. Fishing deep around sunken structure is good with jigs or crank baits.

Crappie – Getting hotter, trolling the ledge tops with minnow tipped jigs is a good combo. Mid morning to mid day is a good time frame. If you want to add to the excitement, add a lipless crank bait to the mix. The hybrids and bass are feeding on the same shad as the Crappie.

Bream- Are really slow during the cold months.

Catfish – Good yea around for the relaxed fisherman. Bottom fishing is steady on the drops with cut bait or the usual catfish favor. Take a good book and relax between bites. If you want to read, you will usually have a hot bite to keep you busy.

The lake level is up over four feet and all the vegetation that had started to germinate in the warmer than normal winter will now make great cover for the craws and bait fish. Spring is going to be really hot on Lake Eufaula. The fish are healthy, sores are gone for the most part and the fish are growing. If you want to do your part to make them grow faster , eat a few of the 14 to 15.5 inch bass. They are too numerous and are all fighting for the same food source.

Dress in layers and take plenty of water for a days outing. Spark and Rehydrate are great to keep your energy up and focused on your fishing.

Please visit www.leekingbenefit.org and register for the June 9, 2012 tournament.

We are striving for 200 teams this year. Please pray about the weekend and join us to make a difference in the lives of these terminal children.

TENNESSEE: Old Hickory – Throwing Rattle traps at Bass Feeding on Schooling Shad

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Dig-In-Anchors.com

Bass fishing is starting to slow down a little right now.

Some fish are still in the backs of creeks, but found most have moved to transition banks. Try throwing rattle traps at bass feeding on schooling shad in the banks of the creeks. We caught some of the bigger fish on a spinnerbiat, like a secret weapon spinnerbait. The key is to find banks with rip rap, and then find wood on those banks. Try to hit and bounce off of the wood, at different angles. The fish we caught off the transition banks, were between 8 to 12 feet. Jerkbaits and jigs were our baits of choice when fishing these banks.

Just keep in mind that fishing is slowing down, but the chances of catching a big trophy bass is at its best right now.

TENNESSEE: Old Hickory Lake – Bass Caught on Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits & Soft Plastics

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Bass being caught in the creeks on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and soft plastics up river.

Look for water temperatures in the 60s. Key structure to fish would be rock and grass.

Few fish being caught down river.

MISSISSIPPI: Lake Mary Crawford – Bass are Being Caught on Spinner baits and Plastic Worms

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Bream fishing has been fair this week with most fish being caught withn crickets in 4-6 ft of water.  Fishing near brush or other structure is recommended.

Bass are being caught on spinner baits and plastic worms.  The best fishing has been in 4-6 ft depths and using spinnerbaits, crank baits, and soft plastics.  Feel free to take a mess of small bass home with you.

Crappie are being caught in 3-7 ft depths with minnows.  Target some of the brush tops listed below or around the fishing piers.

Over 10 new fish attractor sites were created during January 2011. Several of these sites were marked with GPS and the coordinates are listed below. The lake depth map has been updated showing many of these locations. The additional habitat should provide structure for various fish species and offer hot spots for anglers to try. Good luck!
