Western Armstrong County
The Crooked Creek Lake Outflow is about the only place with any fishing activity. Small panfish are being caught on minnows.
Washington County
The crappies and bluegills are biting at Cross Creek Lake.

Low and clear water conditions on all the tribs have continue to provide a real challenge to area anglers with steelhead being very bite shy.
Fish are holding in the pools along Walnut, the Manchester Hole and up to the bridge on Millfair Road. Fish are scattered throughout Elk Creek up to the Legion Hole in Girard and small numbers can be found up to Folly’s End.
Water levels are low enough to allow casting from shore in most areas to avoid spooking fish. 4 lb., and as light as 2 lb. line along with hooks no larger than the 14 to 18 range have become typical tackle.
Anglers were having good success on lower Elk Creek on Saturday with shiners and locally cured single eggs.
The Walnut Creek Access basin has been producing some great fish for the patient anglers with success coming in time blocks typically in the early morning and just before sunset. The basin opening has thinned the upstream crowds along the Walnut Creek Project waters and combined with hunting season and cold weather, a considerable amount of valuable elbow room may now be found especially during the week.
We have had a number of calm lake days, allowing anglers good fishing opportunities along the lakeshore at Trout and Godfrey runs.
Lake Erie water temperature is still relatively warm at 54 degrees. The West County Tributaries were low and clear as of Tuesday afternoon.

With the winds and sun in full effect the smallmouth made an appearance for my clients this week.
Congrats to my father and son anglers as they experienced taking smallmouth bass on fly for their first time and end up with many large smallies on both fly and spinning gear. The largest was just over the 20″ mark.
The fall fishing is in full swing and so are our flies so get in on the action while it lasts!

The river has finally been getting back to somewhat normal fishing conditions.
Some nice sized smallies have made there way to the boat for my clients on both fly and spinning gear.
The leaves are begining to fall and colors of autumn are all over the river landscape making a picturesque back drop to reel in some hard fighting football shaped Smallmouth.

The fall Susquehanna River Smallie foootball season is well underway.
Good size Smallmouth bass the shape of footballs have been making their way to the boat for my clients this week. They are hitting hard and fighting all the way to the boat with many putting on arial displays by leaping out of the water.
This is a great time to get in on the catching action and experience the Susquehanna River.

The Susquehanna River smallmouth bass fishing has been excellent this week with 15 -20 per day coming to the boat along with some hard fighting channel cats, and a few walleye as well.
Flyfishing has been good in certain areas with 15″ plus fish being taken on fly.
The good fishing is now through fall.

The Susquehanna River has been fluctuating up and down and there are good windows of opportunity at certain levels.
As the Season progresses into the summer pattern the smallmouth will begin to spread out and the hunt is on! More steady levels through summer means good fishing and then from summer we move into the fall smallie bite where numbers and quality fish coincide.

Sunday we got up and decided to ride to Presque Isle Bay to try and get into the smallmouth bass.
We got there and there was a very strong wind out of the northeast. These are not good conditions to fish the bay. Especially when the wind is blowing 20-25mph and raining hard the entire time. Unlike the weather the fishing was unbelievable. Between the 2 of us we boated over 50 smallmouth in 6 hours. A couple were over 5lbs and about 10 were probably in the 4lb range. most of the fish were in the 3lb range though. The key to the day was actually getting your lure to the bottom. If you didn’t you weren’t catching fish, but as soon as you got down you were getting bit.
If you are looking for somewhere to fish this weekend I highly recommend both of these fisheries, as this could be the best weather we have had in weeks to fish during the weekend.

The Susquehanna River is Fishing very well the last week. Smallmouth Bass are being caught on a variety of different baits including Spinnerbaits, Bomber and Bandit Crankbaits, Power Team Craw D’oeurves, and Various tubes. We have also caught a few on jerkbaits but not many and am anxiously awaiting a good topwater bite but it just hasn’t happened yet.
The water is clearing and is currently in the 5′ range on the Harrisburg Guage.
There is also loads of Small Walleye being caught on Small Jigs and Crankbaits, but most of them have been very small to just barely legal sized.
We have caught some really big fish this week with the biggest being 21 1/2″ and a few others over 20″. These fish are fighting like crazy and even the 15″ fish are a handfull.
We are out again all week so I will keep you posted as to what transpires as we go.

Susquehanna River Fishing has been tough this spring with the excessive rains we have experienced. We can still catch fish but it surely hasn’t been fast and furious on most days.
Hopefully the end of the rainy season is here and the river will get back to its normal awesome fishing.
We have experienced some great early season Flathead Catfish fishing. Our first entry in to the 30+ Club was caught this week. A 32lb Flathead set the bar for all to break. I’m Sure it won’t last too long given we caught 34 over 30# last season with the biggest being 39#
