TENNESSEE: Old Hickory Lake – Caught Bass on Crank Baits, Jerk Baits, Jigs & Worms

Decided to go to the lake yesterday for a couple hours. Arrived at 11am but did not start fishing till noon, due to motor problems. After resolving motor issues, my day turned into a great December day!

Air temperature was 63 degrees, and water temperature was 51 degrees when I arrived. I started out fishing transition banks. It did not take long to start catching them. Caught my first bass on the third cast. A solid keeper. I caught fish just about anyway I wanted. I caught some on crank baits, jerk baits, jigs, and worms. I ended the day around 3PM.

Caught 10 bass, 5 keepers with the biggest being 4 and half to 5 pounds. Had a couple over 3, a 2 and half, and one about 2 pounds.

Did not have a fish after 2pm, but had wore the spot out pretty good.

The key to success was to find the shad. Find the shad, you find the fish! Good luck to all!
