ALABAMA: Lake Guntersville – In the Mornings Cranks, Swimbaits, Jigs & Spoons

The mornings are the time to be out. We are killing them up to about 10:30 to 11. The fish are schooling but when the sun gets high they disappear. We can still catch them but I have got to change tactics. If they pull some current it will position them and they will turn back on in the afternoon.

In the mornings they want cranks, swimbaits, jigs and spoons. During the afternoon a worm works best but the size goes down. If they are pulling water they will go back to the morning baits.

We have been catching good numbers, 40-60 fish per trip. We are catching some quality fish in the 5-6 and 7 pound range also. Most of these schooling fish we are catching are in the 1.5 – 3.5 pound range.

Good luck out there.
