MONTANA: Upper Madison – Worms, Eggs & Stones are the Ticket

Most of the Upper opened on May 21st and has been on fire since then. The river below the West Fork has a lot of color but you can still fish the right bank for a long way down. We have been targeting the upper river with great success.

The fish are in soft water with flows over 2000cfs. You don’t have to hit too many runs to start racking up a lot of fish.

Standard fair including worms, eggs and stones are the ticket, but don’t forget a baetis nymph as a dropper as an option even when there is color in the water.
